Keynote Speech – Commercial Challenges and Opportunities
Day One: Exchange Auditorium, 11:40 – 12:05
Our keynote address to the conference will be delivered jointly by Will Laing, Operations Director at the Alliance, and Clare Martin, Associate Director of Procurement at the NHS Sussex Partnership.
The session will be opened by Will, who will set out a few thoughts on the NHS workforce challenge and to the commercial opportunity implied in this year’s NHS Long Term Workforce Plan. Drawing a parallel between the outstanding progress made by the NHS procurement profession in developing collaborative approaches to medical markets with NHS clinicians through, for example, clinical consultation groups, we suggest that a similar opportunity is now open for effective strategic collaboration between procurement professionals and colleagues working in HR and workforce roles. By combining our expertise, we can help the NHS achieve its long-term workforce goals.
Clare will then share current experience in this collaborative approach at the NHS Sussex Partnership, providing case study material on the challenge, the method and the results achieved so far across the partnership.
Our slot is brief, so our delivery will be concise and focused, enabling an open Q&A with delegates at the close of the session.
Breakout session – Using Data to Drive Better Outcomes
Day Two: Exchange Room 4&5, 13:00 – 13:25
Our breakout session will focus on the use of data analytics and business intelligence to drive better workforce management outcomes in commercial performance and service delivery. Adam Howes, Strategic Business Analyst from NHS London Procurement Partnership, one of the Alliance partner organisations, will demonstrate the data analysis we use with NHS trusts. It will be an interactive session, enabling open discussion among participants. Topics covered will include trend analysis, demand management and forecasting, and regional supplier capacity.
Delegates will be able to book a 1-1 session with Adam to explore in more detail how data analytics can help support solutions to their own specific workforce challenges.
