Get to Know the NHS Workforce Alliance North East & Yorkshire Regional Team

In the coming months, we’ll introduce each of the NHS Workforce Alliance’s regional teams. First up is the North East and Yorkshire (NEY) regional team, which is uniquely positioned to support your trust’s workforce and staffing needs.

Team overview

The NEY team consists of colleagues from across three of our partner organisations including, the North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC), Crown Commercial Service (CCS) and NHS London Procurement Partnership (NHS LPP),  bringing together a range of professionals with diverse skills. From procurement experts specialising in workforce solutions to data specialists and supplier/customer relationship managers, we are fully equipped to meet every requirement.

Who leads the team?

Joanne Barton, the Regional Lead Senior Category Manager for HR & People, leads the team. Since joining the Alliance, she has been instrumental in delivering high-impact staffing procurement projects, including the award-winning National Clinical Staffing framework.

Joanne says:

“Our team’s extensive knowledge and experience mean we are always ready to support your workforce challenges. Many of us have worked within an NHS trust, so we truly understand your needs and are here to help.”

What experience does the team have?

The team brings a wealth of experience in public sector procurement and category management, along with valuable insights from former customers. Many of our colleagues have been NHS Workforce Alliance customers in the past, so we understand your needs on a deeper level and are here to provide the support you require.

How does the team collaborate with other Alliance teams?

The team works closely with colleagues from across the Alliance through joint working groups, sharing best practices, lessons learned, and valuable insights. This continuous exchange of knowledge ensures that all regional teams can have a significant impact in their respective areas. When necessary, our team taps into the broader expertise within the Alliance to offer comprehensive support for your challenges.

What’s been a highlight for the team this year?

This year, the team has made considerable progress in building strong relationships with customers and suppliers. A key highlight has been the two Workforce Workshops held in Sheffield and Newcastle. These events provided invaluable opportunities to engage with customers, share insights, enable NHS collaboration and explore how we can better meet workforce needs.

In Sheffield, we returned with the well-established Joint Cluster Workforce Workshop, while in Newcastle, we hosted the event for the first time, marking an exciting new chapter in our commitment to creating lasting connections. We look forward to future events planned for 2025.

Whether through face-to-face workshops or ongoing collaboration, the NEY team is here to ensure that your workforce solutions are met.
