Reeya ChittethThe ‘Get to Know’ series showcases staff from around the NHS Workforce Alliance to give you a glimpse of the variety of roles in our organisation and the people who perform them.

This month, we’re pleased to introduce Business Procurement Support Administrator, Reeya Chitteth.

What is your background?

I am Reeya, originally from Kerala, a scenic state in southern India. I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Coventry University and am currently pursuing a masters in Occupational Psychology from the University of Leicester. My professional background includes working in customer service, alongside experience in event coordination and mental health advocacy.

What is your role within the NHS Workforce Alliance and what does it involve?

I serve as the Business and Procurement Support Administrator within the Workforce Category supporting trusts in the South East region. My role involves managing frameworks, scoping out new projects, and collaborating on strategic procurement solutions. A significant aspect of my job is networking and relationship-building, which helps maintain valuable connections and ensure effective delivery of outcomes.

Why are you passionate about this?

I’m passionate about my role because it combines two things I enjoy — strategic problem-solving and relationship-building. I find it rewarding to analyse data, manage contracts, and work with others to deliver meaningful results. The complexity and detail-oriented nature of the job keeps me engaged and motivated.

What is the greatest challenge you face at work?

The steep learning curve has been the greatest challenge in my role. Although the work is diverse and rewarding, I had a lot of questions as a newcomer. Fortunately, the supportive and knowledgeable team has helped ease the transition, making the challenge one that I’ve been able to thoroughly enjoy.

What was your first job and how has it impacted your career?

My first job was as an Events Coordinator with Mind, the mental health charity. This role taught me essential skills in project management, organisation, and the importance of mental health advocacy. These skills, particularly attention to detail and working under pressure, have been instrumental in my transition to procurement and my success in my current role.

How would you spend a perfect day off?

A perfect day off would involve travelling, experiencing new cultures, and tasting different cuisines. If I’m not travelling, I enjoy taking a long walk with my boyfriend’s puppy, Shadow, to unwind. I also love spending time reading, particularly non-fiction and historical fiction, which allows me to relax and immerse myself in another world.
