With winter pressures looming and elective recovery plans high on the national agenda, trusts can reduce their nursing vacancies by expanding their International Recruitment programme.
NHS England and NHS Improvement have announced further funding available to expand the recruitment of overseas nurses, particularly for harder-to-recruit roles such as mental health and learning disability nurses.
The fund aims to provide approximately £3,000 per overseas nurse in post, with an additional £1,000 supplement for specific specialist roles, subject to available funding. This funding is to support appointments made from 1 December 2021 onwards and arrivals from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022. However, funding is allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so we encourage any interested trusts to submit expressions of interest as early as possible.
Expressions of interest are due no later than 5pm on 15 November 2021.
For further information and application information, please see the letter from NHSEI.
If you have any questions regarding this funding, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of the NHS Workforce Alliance team.
